My Story
My promises to you
MY Birthing Philosophies
After my last baby's birth plan changed drastically from a home birth to a possible c-section, I was devastated and had a strong desire to help change the birth experience. Had it not been for my doula easing my mind and reminding me of my strength, I am not sure how my experience would have turned out. After that birth, I felt called to start my journey as a doula. I am so grateful that now I get to take my experience and help other mamas find their strength through labor.
Lessons learned in my journey from a teen mom, to mother of 3, to your advocate and support system in birth.
At 19, I had my first baby girl. I had zero knowledge about birth and all the choices I had in my experience. I tried to educate myself the best I knew how on my own, but found myself not feeling heard, respected or supported in my choices.
I am now a mom of three and as I have had each of my babies, my journey through birth has changed with more and more research and education. I was fortunate to have had two amazing doulas through my last two pregnancies and they really made my experiences drastically better, more enjoyable, and more magical no matter how the plans changed. As your doula, I am here to be the support system both physically and mentally throughout the laboring process - Not only for mom but for the partner. I am there to help you feel empowered, strong, capable and prepared for the special day of meeting the love of your life.
I promise to give all of me to you - To be your strength when you are weary or unsure and your comforting peace when you need moments of rest.
I promise to listen to the needs you have and bring that knowledge into your birth experience.
I promise to help you be heard, feel empowered, feel supported.
I promise to encourage you to step out of worry and fear and step into enjoyment of the process.
Most of all.. I promise to help you find the magic.
Birth is magic, it is truly one thing that women were meant to do. Our bodies and baby work as one as it leads to the birth of our baby and leaning into that union is an empowering experience every woman should have the opportunity to have.
I believe that the more we know around birth the more prepared we feel to take it on in its most natural form. Birth is a normal, natural, and healthy process. Babies are aware, sensitive human beings at the time of birth, and should be acknowledged and treated as such. Birth can safely take place in hospitals, birth centers, and homes.
Pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period are milestone events in the continuum of life. These experiences profoundly affect women, babies, fathers, and families, and have important and long-lasting effects on society. Every woman deserves to have a healthy and joyous birth experience for herself and her family, regardless of her age or circumstances.
Every woman should receive accurate and up-to-date information about the benefits and risks of all procedures, drugs, and tests suggested for use during pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period, with the rights to informed consent and informed refusal.Women should receive support for making informed choices about what is best for her and her baby based on her individual values and beliefs. Interventions should not be applied routinely during pregnancy, birth, or the postpartum period.
